Hey, there. Welcome to another episode of Tips & Tech Talk. I’m your host Ron, a Michigan drone pilot. Today, well today we’re taking a closer look, a hands-on look, at the new DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise. This drone can do a lot of things. It can shoot in 4K, 1080, up to 120 frames per second. It zooms. Lot of great capabilities within this camera, but the quality of the camera is not the main selling point of this drone. The main selling point of this drone is it’s great for first responders types of situations.

There’s actually three applications that you can mount to the drone. One is the beacon. When this is on it, gives off a beacon, much like you’ll see when you drive past an airport on an airplane. It also has the lights that you can put on top of the drone. And this gets pretty bright, so this will come in handy in a lot of first responding situations in the dark. And then this one has a speaker where you can play a recorded message if you need to get the drone to somebody to let them know what’s way, whatever the case may be.

Let’s take a look at all three of these on the drone to see what they’re truly capable of. Let’s go see what it can do.

I’m having a little fun with the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise that was recently released for first responders. Listen to how quiet this drone is. Look what happens when you take your hands off the controller. I’m not controlling this quad, it’s just standing right there. Not standing, flying in one spot. Amazing. We are indoors. We have turned obstacle avoidance off, but no matter, in tripod mode you take your hand of the controller and this is what it’s looking at. Amazing technology.

We have killed the lights so that we can see the light underneath this quad that lights up a room. Wow. You can see the light is low to the ground. This is 100% brightness. Go ahead and turn them off. Lights off, back on at 100%. That’s 100% brightness right there. Watch it light up that room, the hallway. Wow. You can see how bright it is when you come down, because it really narrows the light source. Now that’s another amazing thing about this quad, is that you put the controller straight down, it just turned off on its own. Amazing.

Ron: Now we’re going to take a look at the, this is the beacon, right, Steve?

Steve: Correct.

Ron: Tell us a little bit about the beacon.

Steve: It’s for night flying and you have to have visual, I believe it’s two or three miles to be spotted away by an airplane if you have a waiver to fly at night. And as I’m looking at it, that is a pretty bright LED beacon.

Ron: Wow, it’s like an airport. It’s like driving by the airport. How far away is this beacon visible?

Steve: Well, they’re saying three nautical miles.

Ron: These beacons can … You can see these beacons three miles away, three nautical miles away. And in certain emergency situations, that’s pretty impressive.

Steve: Put the speaker on the top of it ahead of time and then it’ll display the speaker. You tab on it. You can do local play audio or instant broadcast. You can pre-record different messages up to 10 of them. And you tap the talk and then you can store them. And then you can give them a name. But check this out, instant broadcast.

Turn it on, Ron.

Test. One, two, three. This is a test.

It uploads it and it’ll play it.

Test. One, two, three.

Ron: There you have it, an in-depth review of the new DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise. This is a great drone. It’s a great drone for first responders and municipalities because of all the things that this thing can do. Definitely worth the price. Definitely recommend this with a price tag of just under $2,000 this is a great drone for a lot of first responders.
